There's some things you need to include with your file for printing. Look through the list of software below and see what's needed. Not sure? If you have any questions or concerns, ask us. We'll be happy to help.

MICROSOFT WORD

  • All fonts used in the document (That includes any used in the graphics.)
  • Word embeds graphics, so don't worry about those.
  • Remember that Word automatically formats your document for the default printer on the computer used to put the document together. When you take it to another printer, the margins might shift and text could reflow, changing the layout.
  • PUBLISHER

  • All linked graphics
  • All fonts (even if your computer tells you they're already embedded)
  • POWER POINT

  • All linked graphics
  • All fonts (even if your computer tells you they're already embedded)
  • PAGEMAKER

  • All linked graphics
  • All fonts
  • PageMaker has a save for Service Provider option. Use this, but always make sure everything is there. (The program tends to not save fonts.)
  • QUARK XPRESS

  • All linked graphics.
  • All fonts used in the document (This includes any used in the graphics)
  • Quark's Collect for Output option does not collect the fonts.
  • IN DESIGN

  • All linked graphics
  • All fonts used in the document (This includes any used in the graphics)
  • ILLUSTRATOR

  • All placed graphics that are linked.
  • All fonts used in the document (unless you've converted all text to curves)
  • ACROBAT

  • Adobe Acrobat saves everything for you in one neat little package, so the only thing to worry about here is whether or not you've saved it correctly. Make sure the fonts are embedded; it's easy to miss that window. Many programs have a save as or export to PDF function, but be aware that creates a low-resolution version suitable only for screen viewing.
